Cutting Your Property Tax Rate
In 2025, I made the motion to set Clermont's millage rate at 4.59, lower than what city staff recommended, and it passed 4-1. In 2026, I voted against a tentative rate of 4.29 because I wanted it lower. The final 2026 rate was set at 4.20, and it passed 5-0. That is two years in a row of a lower city tax rate. Government should not take more from your paycheck than it needs to operate. I pushed for the lower number because Clermont families deserve to keep more of what they earn. Going forward, I will continue to push back on unnecessary spending, scrutinize every budget cycle, and fight to keep your tax rate as low as possible without sacrificing the services you count on.
